 MORETON STAR   

 The Moreton Star is a timber trawler that sank in 25 msw and now rests on a sandy bottom about 5 nautical miles off Facing Island. 18 months after sinking it was hooked up in the nets of a working trawler and torn apart so not much remains of the wreck.

 

         

                    

 

                                  MISS  SHOALHAVEN

The Miss Shoalhaven rests in 35 msw off Barren Island and has gradually broken down over time and the effects of the ocean. Dived by the Gladstone Dive Group for the first time in 2003 this wreck is remained untouched attracting some of the most awesome fish life we have seen.

          

 

       

                  

 

NAUTILUS

The Nautilus is an old steam barge sitting in 27 msw on a sandy bottom attracting all types of marine life including some very large grouper. Sank while being towed south for repairs after damaging the propeller and was found during a navy exercise in 2000.

 

      

                 

 

                                                    LINDA  JANE

 A timber gulf trawler that sank off Cape Capricorn in 35 msw and remains intact sitting upright on the bottom. The wreck attracts a vast amount of marine life making it one of the best wreck dives in Central Queensland.

                                                            BARCOOLA

A steel gulf trawler sitting upright on a sandy bottom 20 nautical miles out from Bustard Head. The wreck sits in 43 msw making it an advanced dive that can only be dived in good weather conditions so for most of the year it remains untouched and covered in fish life.   

   

 

      

                   

 

                                                    BINDAREE

A timber trawler in 25 msw about 5 nautical miles out from Curtis Island, sitting upright on a sandy bottom slowly collapsing in on itself. Attracts some good fish life including a resident grouper and is a great night dive when weather permits.

 

 

      

                  

 

                                                    RED  DOLPHIN

The Red Dolphin, a 10 m steel yacht that sank about 7 nautical miles out from Curtis Island and sits in 27 msw. The wreck is covered in bait fish which attract olive sea snakes and other marine life making it a great wreck for underwater photography. 

 

 

          

                   

 

                                                            MELISSA

A timber trawler that burnt to the water line and sank off Cape Capricorn and now sits in 35 msw. There is a lot of wreckage covering a large area on the bottom which has attracted a large number of greasy cod and other marine fish.

 

 

         

 KARMA

The Karma is a 42 meter, 450t steel gravel barge  that ran aground after engine trouble near the town of 1770. It was towed off the beach and sank on the 23rd December 2003 and now sits in 28 msw.

    

          

                    

 

SHANNON 2

A Fiberglass trawler that hooked up its nets rolled over and sank 24 nautical miles off Bustard Head in 2003. Sitting upright in 46 msw it remains fully intact and will become a great tec dive.

There are over a dozen wrecks submerged off the Capricorn Coast attracting all kinds of marine life making Gladstone one of the best wreck diving centers in Queensland and with Heron Island and the Great Barrier Reef just offshore the reef diving is incredible. To highlight the wrecks and marine life in the local region RBB video Presentation has released a 55min film showing 5 of these wrecks from a scuba divers perspective.
